How to make hand-copying your Bible special

How to make this time special

I use a special journal. For me at least, there is a certain reverence that comes from writing these passages into a leather-bound journal. I have one my wife gave me that smells of rich leather, feels substantial, sits flat on the table and has sepia toned paper that is heavy enough for the ink not to bleed through when I write. When I finish this journal I know it will look the part of a family heirloom.

That may not be for you, but it makes the writing feel like an event, which cues me to take it slowly and thoughtfully, which in turn helps me take the words more seriously.

I use a very fine ink black ink pen. You might like to use a pencil so you can erase mistakes. I have terrible writing, and find a very fine pen offsets some of the worst of that. Additionally, writing in pen makes me slow down. If I make a mistake I put a line through the word and carry on. I don't mind the odd mistake. It makes the journal feel more personal.
