How hand-copying the Bible will increase your joy

Treat the process (and yourself) with care

Don't be over-familiar. You'll inevitably be very familiar with some of the texts. Stave off the inclination to rush ahead and write from memory. There's likely more there than you ever knew. Be particularly thorough with the punctuation, capitalization and syntax of familiar passages. Let the act of hand copying show you something new or remind you again of something particularly rich.

A new page for a new day. I start each day with a new page...or at least I do now. Initially I saved paper, but now I like to look to the same place to see the book, chapter and verse. Otherwise it looks like one un-ending scrawl (or at least mine does).

If you miss a day, skip a day. Playing catch-up is miserable and often counter-productive. I've found being behind steals my joy. Even when I catch up I feel I've rushed. If you get behind, let it go and start again tomorrow. Remember this is for your joy, not for prizes.
